Kuntal Shah has been active in the band and percussion community for more than 20 years, with experience spanning all classes of the indoor percussion activity from PSRA to PIW. He has spent the past 11 years at Enloe High School in Raleigh, where he currently serves as Director of After-School Ensembles, Program Coordinator, and Battery Arranger.

His previous experience includes Redline Percussion, Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, Alchemy Independent, Green Hope Indoor Percussion, Carolina Gold, and the UNC Drumline.

As an educator, arranger, and designer, Kuntal is passionate about developing students, supporting educators, and strengthening the percussion community in North Carolina. He is also a co-founder of the NC Percussion Symposium, which connects students and educators with world-class percussion performers and clinicians through accessible educational opportunities.

Kuntal earned his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was Principal Percussionist of the Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Captain of the Marching Tar Heels, and a recipient of the UNC Bands Director’s Award. He was also a DCI Finalist in 2010 as a snare drummer with the Madison Scouts.

Kuntal is endorsed by Dynasty/Titan Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, and Beetle Percussion, and is an Evans Drumheads educator.
